What a beautiful violin! Brilliant E, deep G, light as a feather comparing it to the VSO that started my musical journey on the violin in this pandemic.
The violin has beautiful antiquing, looks like it's been around longer that it actually has. It's very responsive, wether my bow is light or heavy, the sound is great. I just wish my playing is up to the same level as the violin. (Practice, practice practice!)
The strings currently on the violin are Tonicas, but I think I just might buy (from Leonard) some Evah Pirazzi strings. See if the sound is improved. Can't hurt!
The bow that comes with the kit is also a step or two up from the bow I was using. The Cadenza F52 Woven Carbon Fiber Violin Bow is light and well balanced. Joy to use.
The case that came with the kit has a big internal compartment for your rosin, extra set of strings, cleaning cloth and shoulder rest (that's what I've stuffed into the storage compartment so far). There is a removable large pocket for your music. However, when laying the case on it's long edge and opening the case, the pocket will cause the case to tip over. Maybe some work on the tension of the straps is in order, possibly that there aren't any books in the pocket, not a big glitch, I'm making sure that there's something for the top of the case to lean against when I open the case.
The package is well balanced. The strings work with the violin, the bow works with the violin. They haven't provided a lesser bow or cheap strings to save a buck or two. That would be a disservice to the customer and the violin.
Now about Leonard's service. Outstanding!! I had emailed him about the violin's availability, said I wanted it and when he received the violin, he sent me some pictures of the violin via text message. Then, when we had agreed on a time, he drove out to my apartment (on the other side of town, and then some) not only with the Le Rideau, but also with another violin that I could check out. Both violins were great, but I went with the "Le Rideau".
Thanks Leonard! It was a pleasure dealing with you!
